On February 17th and 18th The Orchestra on the Hill in collaboration with the newly formed Ipswich Art Association (IAA) performed a concert event titled “Images 24” at the Dolan Performing Arts Center.

For the orchestra, this wwas the third “Images” concert since the group was founded in 2007. This event celebrated the many talented musicians, poets and visual artists from Ipswich and local communities. The composers of the orchestra paired with visual artists and poets of the IAA to explore the creation of new music and art that was mutually inspired. Each composer and artist pair approached their creations in a unique way emphasizing the transformation of an idea into something the audience saw and heard.

Thomas Palance, the Artistic Director of the orchestra states “This journey of interpretation has been exciting, and an exercise that has emphasized how people can view the same idea in very different and sometimes very similar ways. There have been some fun surprises throughout this creative process.  I’m looking forward to hearing about the journey of creation from the other artists and seeing the results of this effort.”

Cynthia August, President of the Ipswich Art Association adds "The IAA is proud to bring this collaboration to life with the Orchestra on the Hill. It is inspiring to watch artists of different disciplines work together to create unique blended works of art. We can't wait to see and hear the finished product!

This concert marked a new era in the celebrations of the many talented artists in this area, and attracted the largest audience in the Orchestra's history.
